Description

A vegetable is a plant or a part of it, like a fruit or a root that you can eat, raw or cooked. Vegetables are very important for good health: they provide fiber, essential vitamins and minerals and many other substances useful in our everyday life.

Research shows how a diet rich in vegetables may reduce chronic diseases like stroke, diabetes or cancer. Vegetables are also good for your shape: they are naturally low in calories and fat.

Some vegetables can contain natural toxins or micro-organisms that can harm your health if eaten raw, so they must be cooked in order to avoid such risks.
