Greenhouse gases are emissions considered an important cause of the so called "global warming": Among the main are numbered carbon dioxide (Co2), methane (Ch4) and Nitrous Oxide (N2O). It also exists a real index (the so called Global Warning Potential or GWP) which is able to measure how much Green House Gases contribute to Global Warming e.g. Carbon Dioxide has a global warming potential of 1, while Methane of 25 and Nitrous Oxide of 298.
It's incredible this datum: according to the F.A.O. (Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nation) the livestock sector produces more GHGs than transports. Because insects produce significantly less GHGs per kilogram of meat than cattle or pigs, one study has suggested insect farming as a more sustainable form of meat production in order to reduce livestock based emissions.
