Legume

Description

Legumes are a very powerful product from mother Nature: they are loaded with nutrients like protein and fiber. Sometimes called poor person's meat, they actually seem to be an almost valid alternative to many meat varieties available today. Many people prefer legumes over meat, both for ethical/religious or health reasons.

A regular consumption of legumes brings in several health benefits:

  • lower blood pressure, regulation of blood cholesterol and glucose (useful for diabetics)
  • cancer prevention and risk reduction
  • improved function of the colon
  • curing digestive related problems.

Legumes are a rich combination of fiber, protein and complex carbohydrates; they provide more protein per serving than other types of food, right after meat, poultry and fish.
