Looking back to the past, in U.K. the National Donut Day was established to be officially celebrated bin 1938 by the Chicagoan Salvation Army in order to raise funds during the Great Depression.

The bigger donut is 16 inch in diameter and 16 inch in the center! Americans are for sure great eater of donuts (Nevada, Oregon, California...). Donuts were also celebrated in a movie with Clarke Gable in 1934: "It happened one night", while the first crispy creme donut was sold in 1937 in the ancient "Old Salem", nowadays Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
